This new art publication was written, edited and produced by the artist Paul Leibow. It is a follow up art catalog about the solo show, at the Monmouth Museum 08/2024.

It looks at the connections from culture deconstructing vintage turntables and record LPs through various musical genres jammed together with characters such as Krazy Kat, Batman, Popeye, Pluto, and Winnie the Pooh, along with my invented version of Felix the Cat I call FeelLicks. These works were never intended for dancing or easy listening, yet as objects of desire stemming from the sense-memory for playing and experiencing joy.

Vintage turntables by Bang & Olufsen may be considered works of high-end industrial design, seen on display at the MoMA. I see them as older objects becoming something else, reassembled into abstract versions of Duchamp-style Readymades, with branded vinyl, gold leaf beheaded icons, and vintage cartoons that don’t make sense as traditional art. However, the ambiguity affixed to these commercialized images together on nonfunctioning devices breaks categories that start breathing on their own.”
