In partnership with One Billion Rising/ V-Day Coalition and Artist Paul Leibow we created, Elena the Essential Service Worker, a 24 ft. art statue appearing in multiple cities. She is Elena the Essential Voter, Worker and American demanding fair pay, respect, and fair elections.
The president of One Fair Wage Saru Jayaraman contacted me for a project to brand her new non-profit OFW. We came away with an idea of a two-story building of Rosie the Riveter, made more contemporary. It would be her entire figure as a minority woman and act as a mobile billboard to go all over the country for each of their rallies or strikes. Elena became the face of a restaurant worker for One Fair Wage. I was commissioned and contracted to not only create the artwork however to also build the giant size Elena and set her up around NYC.
